Reception class - ACORN - Spring Term 2010 Newsletter

 These are some of the things we will be covering during this term:

Communication, Language & Literacy

In literacy we will be reading a range of non-fiction books. The children will be finding out information about people who help us. They will continue to practice sounds and words using the Jolly Phonics programme.

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Number

This term we will be investigating differing forms of measure and the appropriate vocabulary to use. We will continue to use numbers to count, order, add and subtract.

Knowledge and Understanding

This term the children will be finding out about people who help us. They will make emergency vehicles using a range of materials in the classrooms.

A range of ICT equipment will be used to aid their learning.

Creative Development

In Art we will be using a variety of media and resources to explore and investigate.

The children will have opportunities to use a range of percussion instruments to explore and discover sound.

Thank you for sending book bags into school every day. Hearing your child read and practice their words regularly is so helpful in giving them a good start and building their confidence. This is time well spent with your child.

Please ensure that your child has their PE bag in school Monday to Friday each week.

The children are coming into school by themselves in the morning, this is another valuable step in them becoming independent and learning to look after themselves
